Evaluating the Community Spaces Partnership in Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria

Overview

NICRE is evaluating the impact and learning from the Community Spaces Partnership (CSP) funded by the National Lottery Community Fund

Community Action Northumberland (CAN), Action with Communities in Cumbria (ACT) and Durham Community Action (DCA) are coming together in partnership to future-proof village halls and community spaces in rural Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria. The CSP will commission capital investment to at least 25 community spaces to achieve long-term sustainability and net-zero improvements while supporting these communities to address barriers.

NICRE will evaluate the impacts of the partnership to support communities to achieve resilience, cohesion and transition to net-zero.

Next steps

The CSP programme is underway, with community spaces engaging directly with CAN, DCA and ACT in each county to learn about the Partnership and prepare for capital investment. The programme will run until March 2024, with the hope that this pilot will develop into similar partnerships in the future.

Updates about case studies from each county and learnings from the partnership will be available through the NICRE project page and the Innovation Portal throughout the project.
