How might we unlock community energy for rural resilience in North Yorkshire?

Help unlock community energy for rural North Yorkshire

What if village halls could power themselves through solar panels? What if communities could generate their own renewable energy, reduce costs and reinvest profits into local priorities?

That’s the challenge at the heart of the Community Energy Climathon, being delivered by Community First Yorkshire and the National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise (NICRE).

The event will bring together community groups, energy experts and rural organisations to explore one central question: How might we unlock community energy for rural resilience in North Yorkshire?

Community energy offers an opportunity for local people to take greater control of their energy future, helping to reduce environmental impact while creating social and economic benefits for rural communities.

Participants will hear inspiring examples from across the country before working together to develop practical, place-based solutions for North Yorkshire. Using NICRE's proven rural Climathon methodology, the event aims to spark collaboration, innovation and action.
