Nature and People in the River Coquet catchment - get involved in our research

Help shape the future of the River Coquet

We are working with Natural England and local partners to build a clearer picture of the River Coquet and the people connected to it, as part of the Nature and People project.

The research will focus on those who live, work, learn and spend time along the river, helping to better understand how the river and its surrounding areas are valued and used.

Findings from the project will inform future activity in the area and support the development of a Protected Sites Strategy (PSS) for the entire River Coquet catchment, from source to sea.

A project flyer with further information is linked below, and organisations are encouraged to share this with their networks to help reach a wide range of participants.

Community organisations invited to take part in focus group

As part of the research, NICRE is keen to hear from a broad cross-section of the community. A dedicated focus group is being organised for representatives of community and voluntary organisations (VCSEs) who are active in and around the River Coquet.

The session will provide an opportunity to share insights, experiences and perspectives that will help shape the research.

Focus group details

  • Date: Tuesday 21 April
  • Time: 12:30–2pm (lunch provided)
  • Location: Felton Village Hall, Main Street, Felton, NE65 9NH

The focus group will take place immediately after the Thriving Together networking event, making it easier for network members to attend both. However, attendance at the morning event is not required.

How to get involved

Anyone who works or volunteers with a VCSE organisation connected to the River Coquet is welcome to take part.
