Overview
Penruddock Village Hall aimed to enhance their sustainability with its latest refurbishment project, supported by the Community Spaces Partnership. The hall provides a vital space for local residents, and a lunch hall, sports facility and drama room for the primary school next door.
The project focused on re-roofing the hall, installing PV panels, air source heating, and battery storage. With rising electricity costs, these improvements are helping to keep hire rates affordable while reducing environmental impact. Despite challenges in securing contractors, the project has successfully halved electricity usage. Stronger partnerships, particularly with ACT, have also helped navigate governance complexities at the hall.
