EEZYBIKE

Overview

EEZYBIKE is a micro mobility innovator pioneering the UK’s first off-grid, solar-powered e- bike hire network. Our aim is to make sustainable travel simple and accessible in rural areas, and to connect public transport to country towns and villages, encouraging a real shift towards sustainable transport. EEZYBIKE works with councils and The National Trust to encourage active travel and greener ways of travel. Our e-bikes are suitable for rural terrain and roads.
We began rolling out the EEZYBIKES, which are stored in an EEZYPOD, in 2024. Each pod is solar-powered, and fully automated, allowing riders full control with the touch of a button. Because they don’t rely on traditional infrastructure, pods can easily be placed in rural locations, giving people the freedom to explore in a greener, more accessible way. In addition, meaningful Management Information reports including Co2 savings are provided to our Partners

Offer

EEZYBIKE provides a turnkey e-bike hire service that helps their partners encourage active travel and sustainable transport, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 90%. EEZYPODs securely store and charge the bikes using solar power. Customers book online in advance and open the pod automatically with a unique code. We manage the fleet, carry out servicing and maintenance and provide breakdown support. Usage data and CO₂ savings are reported back to partners.

This model works with councils, tourist destinations, hospitality venues, housing developments and transport operators. EEZYBIKE provides partners with a low-cost way to provide sustainable travel that enhances visitor experience, supports Net Zero goals and delivers community health benefits.

Challenges

USP

Our USP is combining solar-powered infrastructure, a simple online booking system with full rider control automation, meaningful reporting and e-bikes suitable for rural terrain. EEZYPODs are lightweight and quick to set up. Unlike city-based schemes, our e-bikes are protected from the weather and secure We give councils, tourist destinations, housing developers and transport operators a practical way to deliver active travel without complex infrastructure or heavy upfront costs.

Our top three tips to share are:

  • Work closely with councils and communities
  • Keep booking and access simple.
  • Encourage customer reviews through a trusted customer service platform

Katherine Davies, Sustainable Travel Manager, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils says:

“EEZYBIKE and their revolutionary EEZYPOD have enabled us to pilot a subsidised e-bike rental scheme – which supports our sustainable travel workstream, as well as our local visitor economy offering. Having one of their EEZYPODs, with two e-bikes to rent, at our Needham Lake site has been received really positively by local people and visitors alike, and offers an opportunity for people to try out an e-bike, which helps us to enable modal shift to more sustainable forms of transport. EEZYBIKE have been a pleasure to work with, taking care of lots of technical details for us, as well as coming up with imaginative ideas for business partnerships and cycle routes to encourage further update of the new provision.”

Future plans

EEZYBIKE shows that rural innovation works in practice. Our solar-powered pods and simple booking system have helped hundreds of people swap out the car for an e-bike.
Feedback has been outstanding, with Travellers’ Choice Award and 100% five-star reviews. Combined with measurable CO₂ savings, stronger tourism and healthier communities, EEZBIKE's e-bike rental serve shows that sustainable travel in rural areas is both possible and popular. We offer meaningful Management Information to our Partners including carbon footprint measurement and look forward to working with other organisations.
