Overview
Allendale Village Hall is hub for social, recreational and support activities. As part of the Community Spaces Partnership, the hall embarked on a project to improve energy efficiency and accessibility. Upgrades included installing new windows and balcony doors, insulation, and sustainable lighting, significantly reducing heating costs and making the space more comfortable for users.
The process, facilitated by Community Action Northumberland, was straightforward and collaborative. The improvements have enhanced the hall’s role as a warm hub, supporting activities from meet-and-eat sessions to Pilates and local festivals.
Following the successful implementation of their project, the Allendale team is now exploring opportunities for further developments, including adding solar panels, digital inclusion support events, renovating the balcony area, and upgrading the recreational outdoor spaces for use by the youth group and local children.
